Sorry, I am just not willing to grant you that Altec Pro is Altec. for several years there was no Pro Sound division of Altec at all.

No. But they ain't Altec, just a bunch of chinese **** .

They have discontinued a large number of products. Funny to see a number of what they brought out in the last few years listed as "legacy".

I suspect Altec Pro won't last. Sparkomatic was recently acquired by Plantronics. They'll have to produce profit or die.

Altec pro could wind up as rebadged Pyle Pro.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Sparkomatic bought the name Altec/Lansing Consumer products in the 80's. The "Real" Altec was still around producing GREAT equipement.

After the origional Altec finially went bankrupt Sparkomatic bought what was left from Telex. But from my understanding they haven't been doing anything with it. Can you name a dealer that carries the new Altec Professional equipement???

If you visit the site. There's a sales office in most states. Product line mainly ceiling speaker
systems.

These ceiling Duplex are manufactured in China or
US.

There is one component of a speaker that the Chinese don't have acces to . The diaphragm. That goes for Microphone manufacturer also.

Chinese make lots of diaphragms. And some excellent mics. I know some Altec pro products in the past used American made diaphragms, but I would not bet on anything now.

Altec pro is a sham. I can legally change my name to Michaelangelo, but it won't make me an artist.

Legally they are Altec. But that is it.

BTW Altec didn't go bankrupt in the '90's. Telex just shut them down.

This is a touchy subject. I know from the papers around here that some employees are not allowed to work on certain new projects in Aerospace industry.

I won't go further and just leave it like that.
